 PALAK CHANNA DAL//SPINACH CHICKPEAS LENTILS

 If we want to make something by mixing palak(spinach), then first of all we like to make paneer with palak, but if it made by mixing chana dal (chickpeas lentils) with palak, then a very tasty and nutritious dish is made. Palak dal is a whole diet in itself that can be served at any time of meal. It can also pack in lunch box. We can enjoy it with simple roti ,missi roti or lachha paratha.

Ingredients

  • 250 gram---palak(spinach)
  • 1 cup---chana dal (chickpeas lentils)
  • 1 large---onion(chopped)
  • 2 ---tomatoes(chopped)
  • 3----green chili(chopped)
  • 2 tsp---ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1/2 tsp---cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp---red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp---turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp---garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp---dry coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup---fresh cream or fresh malai
  • 2 tsp---desi ghee
  • according to taste---salt

 Method

  • Soak chana dal in water for 3 hours.
  • Wash the palak with water three or four times properly.
  • Chopped the palak.
  • On the medium flame, heat 2 tsp desi ghee in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds when cumin seeds crackling, add ginger-garlic paste.
  • After 2 seconds, add chopped onion, let it cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add green chili and tomatoes.
  • Remove Chandal with water and wash it.
  • When the tomato has cooked, add chana dal and palak.
  • Put salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, dry coriander powder, mix it properly.
  • Let it cook on medium flame for 15 minutes.
  • Keep stirring it for time to time.
  • When the palak and dal has cooked, add fresh cream, cook it for some time.
  • finally, put garam masala.
  • Switch off the flame.
  • put it into serving bowl and served it with garam chapati ,missi roti or lachha paranth


Tips:

  • Wash the green vegetables, three or four times with water before chopping.
  • Fresh malai can be used instead of cream.
