Amala ki khatti meethi sabzi  / sweet sour recipe of Indian gooseberry

Ingredients:

  • 250 gram --- Amala/ Indian gooseberry ( should be stain free)
  • 4 --- green chillies (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp --- fenugreek seeds ( methi dana)
  • 1/2 tsp --- cumin seeds  ( jeera)
  • 1/2 tsp --- fennel seeds ( crushed )
  • 1 tsp --- red chilli powder (lal mirch powder)
  • 1/2 tsp --- turmeric powder ( haldi )
  • 1 tsp --- coriander powder ( dhaniya powder)
  • According to taste --- salt
  • 100 gram --- jaggery ( crushed )
  • 4 tsp --- mustard oil ( sarson ka tel )

Method:

Wash amala and boil it in the cooker until it comes to a whistle.

Take out the amala and properly dry it, remove the kernal and cut the amla into pieces.



Heat the oil on medium flame, put fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds.

When the seeds crackle, add green chilli and ginger, cook it for while.



Put amala pieces and add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, dry coriander powder , crushed fennel seeds.

cook it for 2 minutes.

Put jaggery and cook for 1 minute, switch off the flame.

Keep it covered for while so that the jaggery melts well.

Amala ki khatti meethi sabzi is ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Amala should be stain free.
  • If you want to keep this sabzi for 4-5 days, then put a spoonful of vinegar in it when it cools down
